Delain es un grupo neerlandés de metal sinfónico fundado por el ex-teclista de Within Temptation Martijn Westerholt.
Delain fue fundado por Martijn Westerholt, el ex-teclista y hermano de uno de los fundadores de Within Temptation, Robert Westerholt. Abandonó Within Temptation en el 2001 cuando enfermó de mononucleosis infecciosa y empezó con Delain en el 2002.
Sin embargo, sólo hasta 2005 Martijn conoció a la vocalista soprano Charlotte Wessels. Ese mismo año, después de haber firmado un contrato con la discográfica Roadrunner Records, comenzaron a grabar su primer disco.
